Australia sent the frigate HMAS Sydney and heavy landing ship HMAS Tobruk carrying helicopters, Australian Army engineers and medical teams.
The United States moved naval vessels closer to Japan for the purposes of providing aid, including the aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan. Germany is sending search and rescue specialists from the Technisches Hilfswerk. The United Kingdom is sending 70 rescuers to Japan, including two search dogs, a medical support team and 11 tons of specialized rescue equipment. South Korean aid arrived in Japan on March 12, consisting of 5 members from the National Rescue Services and two rescue dogs, and a subsequent team of 102 rescue workers.
Japan had asked Russia state-controlled gas giant Gazprom for additional liquefied natural gas supplies, the company was now looking how to divert two tankers, or 150,000 tons, currently under other contracts, towards Japan. Russia's Emergencies Ministry official Irina Andrianova confirmed that Russia will send one Mi-26 helicopter along with a team of 50 Russian rescuers to search for survivors, and promised more aid. Iran is dispatching an Iranian Red Crescent relief team to Japan
President Ma Ying-Jeou of Taiwan ordered the Republic of China government to donate NT$100 million (equal to about 300 million Japanese yen or 3.3 million US dollars) to Japan. A Ministry of the Interior rescue team of 28 members has arrived Japan on March 14th. In addition, an official medical team is also ready to leave for Japan. Some other Taiwanese government and charitable organizations have also arranged donations and sent assistance to Japan.
